Daud Garakoev elected Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Ingush People's Congress
The delegates of the Ingush People's Congress held in Moscow have stated the increasing socio-economic problems in the republic and called to get back to the direct election of the head of Ingushetia. The Congress elected its Executive Committee of seven people, which will be chaired by Daud Garakoev, who is also a member of the All-Ingush Civil Council.
Daud Khuchiev, one of the initiators and organizers of the Congress, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the event brought together 230 delegates: activists of 17 organizations and associations of the republic, including members of four federal parties, represented in Ingushetia. The number of those who were ready to come from Ingushetia was an order of magnitude more, he has added.
"However, the bureaucratic machinery had carried out some work among the population. We received calls persistently urging us to refrain from this trip," said Daud Khuchiev.
"For us, one of the main positive aspects of this Congress was the fact that for the first time in recent years all the opposition forces came together. Despite the controversy, which was earlier an obstacle for addressing common issues, the Congress was attended by delegates from all opposition forces. Apparently, the situation in our republic has escalated to the limit; and that has forced us all to come together," said Daud Khuchiev.
