Picket against political repression held in Volgograd
On June 11, the Volgograd regional branch of the "People's Alliance" Party held a picket against political repressions and politically-motivated persecutions. The action was organized by seven picketers, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The notification about the picket was submitted in advance; and the action was sanctioned, as Dmitry Kostikov, the head of the regional party branch and the event organizer, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The protesters held posters in support of May 6 prisoners and the opposition leader Alexei Navalny and spread leaflets in support of the latter. According to Kostikov, "some passersby were interested in the topic of the picket, and some of them expressed support."
The organizer has added that the "People's Alliance" Party is not yet officially registered by the Ministry of Justice; and the Volgograd branch of the party was founded in early March.
According to the organizers, there were no incidents during the picket.
