Advocate: renewed inquiry into Yarst's case completed in Sochi

On June 12, investigators finalized the renewed criminal inquiry into the case of journalist Nikolai Yarst, who had been charged with illegal possession and transportation of drugs, the journalist's advocate Alexander Popkov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"On June 13, Mr Yarst and his defence will start studying the materials of the criminal case," said the advocate.

"My client, who is under home arrest, is still in shock from what is happening within his criminal cases related to his alleged involvement in drug trafficking. He keeps asserting that the drugs were planted on him; and the case was fabricated. Nikolai, who is under home arrest, goes through all sorts of versions of who could have 'ordered' his prosecution and for what reason," said the lawyer.

Let us remind you that the court, while ruling on changing Yarst's freedom restriction measure from the recognizance not to leave into home arrest, forbade the journalist to communicate with anyone, except for his advocate and the investigator, to use mail, Internet and other means of communication. Prior to this ruling, Nikolai Yarst gave an interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, in which he associated his prosecution with his professional activities, in particular, with the case of a missing child, which he is inquiring for "more than one year."
