Decision to raise fares on route Makhachkala-Kaspiisk suspended

The decision to raise fare for private route taxi of the route Makhachkala-Kaspiisk starting from January 1 was taken without consultation with the appropriate authorities, and it has been suspended. This was announced by Djamaludin Omarov, Mayor of Kaspiisk.

The decision to raise fares was made unauthorized by management of a private transport company. This was stated today by Djamaludin Omarov at his meeting with representatives of the media, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

"The city administration has appealed to the Prosecutor's Office, and the increase of fare has been suspended for the duration of the proceedings. To justify the increase of fare, there are appropriate instances the Department of Transport, the Ministry of Economics, where the necessary approvals should be obtained," Djamaludin Omarov has stated.

Officials from the Department of Transport under the administration of Makhachkala state that, despite the raise in cost of waybills and vehicles and the increase of federal tariffs, in the near future, no increase of fares for route taxis throughout Makhachkala is expected, the RIA "Dagestan" reports.
