Rostov picketers demand to stop persecution of figurants of "Bolotnaya Square" case

On June 12, Rostov-on-Don held a picket – within the Russian nationwide campaign – in support of the activists accused of the riots in Bolotnaya Square in Moscow. The participants of the rally stated the presence of political prisoners in Russia.

The action was attended by about 40 people who held posters and photos of political prisoners, Valentina Tolmachova, one of the picketers, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"I was pleased to see many new faces: there were about 15 of them. They told me that they had learnt about the picket from social networks," she said.

At the end of the action, the participants chanted "Freedom to prisoners of conscience!" and called out the names of all those who are considered to be political prisoners; in particular, the activist of "The Other Russia" Taisia Osipova, members of the Pussy Riot group Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, and the businessman Mikhail Khodorkovsky.
