The defense in Georgia will appeal against Kadyev and Omarov’s arrest
The two-months arrest of Mikail Kadyev and Rizvan Omarov accused of illegal purchasing and storage of arms and explosives will be appealed against to the Court of Appeal of Georgia, the defendants’ attorney Irma Inasaridze declared.
Earlier, the “Caucasian Knot” reported that on June 13, the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Georgia declared prevention of a terrorist act in Tbilisi. Its supposed organizers Mikail Kadyev and Rizvan Omarov were detained. On June 15, Tbilisi city court selected preventive punishment to them in form of a two-months custody. Kadyev and Omarov deny any kind of their connection with the confiscated arms and explosives.
According to the attorney, the prosecution violated presumption of innocence concerning the defendants. In particular, the prosecution first stated that they were arrested for accusation of an attempt of committing terror but the charge was brought according to clause 236 (illegal purchasing and storage of arms).
Inasaridze considers that the spread of this information by the prosecution party influenced the verdict and the judge brought a judgment of arrest concerning her clients, “Georgia Online” reports.
