Georgia's MIA reports detection of hides with firearms and torture videos
Underground hidings with the weapons intended to conduct large-scale warfare, a video archive of torture and lists of people, planned for detention on trumped-up charges, were found in Georgia, Nino Giorgobiani, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), has reported today. According to the MIA, its former officials had to do with the hides.
According to the Ministry, the caches found in Samegrelo (Western Georgia) stored large amounts of explosives and bombs, grenades and firearms, as well as hard drugs and psychotropic substances, the "Gazeta.ru" reports.
As reported by Ms Giorgobiani, the caches also contained video records of torture and sexual abuse, which have been sent to the investigative examination.
She has also reported that the hidings contained lists of persons, who had been planned to be arrested on trumped-up charges after the planned victory of the pro-presidential "United National Movement" at the parliamentary elections on October 1, 2012. Some documents are handwritten, which will facilitate rapid identification and subsequent detention of those responsible, the "Georgia-Online" reports.
