Chernobyl cleanup veterans in Kabardino-Balkaria report that collection of the compensations paid off to them is going on
The bailiffs in Kabardino-Balkaria are going on impounding from Chernobyl cleanup veterans the sums of financial compensations paid off to them upon the verdicts of the courts, Chairman of republican organization “Chernobyl Union” Ali Kuchmezov told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
“The bailiffs in Maisky and Tersky districts go on coming to Chernobyl cleanup veterans and collecting money from them”, Ali Kuchmezov reported. He said he was aware of four cases of this kind in Maisky district, three in Tersky district and three in the settlement of Urvan.
“The bailiffs come to Chernobyl cleanup veterans, either with some documents or even without, demanding 7% of the sums the veterans received, i.e. the cost of their services. They distrain upon their property and threaten to confiscate it. All this is illicit”, Kuchmezov says.
Kuchmezov thinks that the reason is that the resolution of Presidium of the Supreme Court that cancels overturning of execution of decisions of the first instance courts was not brought to the notice of the bailiff service.
As of today, 22 veterans’ cases have been considered on which the execution of decisions was overturned. All in all, there are 51 such cases. 10 to 15 persons participate in them.
“Presently, we are busy with active correspondence with the bailiffs’ service in order to prevent exaction”, lawyer Muhtar Mishaev said.
