Court extends custody of figurants in Nalchik attack case till September 26
Today, the Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria has decided to extend the detention of 53 defendants in the case of the attack on Nalchik, committed on October 13, 2005, for another three months, until September 26.
Let us remind you that the above attack resulted in a loss of 35 law enforcers and servicemen, 14 civilians and 92 persons from among the attackers. The trial is on from 2009, 57 persons are the defendants; most of them refuse to plead guilty.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at the court session on June 17 the prosecution petitioned to extend their detention and not to change the earlier appointed freedom restriction in the form of recognizance not to leave of the defendants Kazbek Budtuev, Zalim Ulimbashev, Sergey Kaziev and Anzor Ashev. The advocates and the defendants present at the trial, in their turn, opposed the satisfaction of the prosecution's petition.
The court found no reason to change anyone's freedom restriction measure at the moment. The above four defendants were left under recognizance not to leave.
