Trial on lawsuit of HRC "Memorial" to cancel the demand of MPO to HRC to get registered as foreign agent postponed till June 25
The consideration by the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow of the claim, lodged by the HRC "Memorial" and challenging the demand of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office (MPO) that the HRC should get registered as a foreign agent was rescheduled for June 25 because of the judge's illness, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the unscheduled inspection of the HRC "Memorial" was launched by the MPO with the assistance of employees of the Ministry of Justice and Tax Inspectorate on March 26. The MPO concluded that the HRC had violated the requirements of point "b", Article 2, of the Federal Law of January 12, 1996, No. 7-FZ "On Non-Commercial Organizations", which defines the notion of a "non-commercial organization acting as a foreign agent" and demanded that the HRC "Memorial" should be registered as a foreign agent.
It follows from the document of the MPO, posted on the website of the HRC "Memorial", that special attention of the auditors was attracted by the programmes, involved in monitoring politically motivated administrative detentions and criminal repressions. The document accents mostly the Project "OVD-Info", launched in December 2011 by a group of journalists who monitor political arrests at public events.
Let us note here that the HRC has treated the MPO's conclusions incorrect and declared its intention to appeal against them.
