Relatives of Mikail Kadiev and Rizvan Omarov, detained in Georgia, state their innocence
Two citizens of the Russian Federation Mikail Kadiev and Rizvan Omarov, detained on suspicion of preparing a terror act in the territory of Georgia, were not involved in the alleged crimes, said their relative who is in Tbilisi. The fact that the detainees refused to plead guilty was confirmed by their advocate Irma Inasaridze, who has filed an appeal against the decision of the court to arrest her clients.
Now, Mikail Kadiev and Rizvan Omarov are kept in Gldani Prison No. 8 in Tbilisi, the newspaper "Izvestia" reports. The Tbilisi City Court has already appointed a preliminary hearing on the case of Kadiev and Omarov for July 31, the "Echo of the Caucasus" reports.
According to the Georgian legislation, the charge brought against the citizens of Russia provides for a fine or imprisonment of up to three years.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent received an explanation from a source from the GUVD (City Interior Department) of Moscow that Kadiev was one of the suspects of the September 2009 murder in Moscow of Alimsoltan Alkhamatov, the head of the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan.
The source told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the inquiry into the murder of Alkhamatov is run by Moscow investigative agencies; and all the detained suspects in the case had been convoyed to Moscow for the purpose of the investigation.
