A picket against construction in the “greenbelt” of Primorskaya embankment is planned in Sochi

Members of a pressure group in Sochi declared their intention to hold a picket in protection of the “greenbelt” of the top level of Primorskaya embankment where construction of a well-room for delivery of mineral water started. However, Mayor’s office refused to authorize the action. One of the activists is going to hold a single-person picket.

The action is appointed on June, 23. It is expected to be held from 16:00 till 19:30 opposite Zimny theater.

Deputy of the Municipal Assembly from KPRF party Lyudmila Shestak explained the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that the well-room was being constructed in accordance with an agreement of donation Mayor of Sochi Anatoly Pakhomov concluded with one of the companies of Kazan.

A banner specifying IV quarter of 2013 as time of accomplishment of construction is currently set in the place of the future building-site.

Lyudmila Shestak added that on June, 20, she submitted a statement to Public Prosecutor’s office on the necessity of taking measures of legality control to stop destruction of the “greenbelt”.

Mayor of Sochi Anatoly Pakhomov declined comment in connection with the appointed action.

It should be reminded that residents of Sochi have repeatedly come out in protest. In particular, they demanded to stop deforestation in the city.
