Dagestani GPO intends to report about inquiry into attempt on journalist Akhmednabiev before July 10
The investigation into the attempt on the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent in Dagestan Akhmednabi Akhmednabiev should run not under the articles of the Russian Criminal Code, on which it had been opened, Abdurashid Sheikhov, the journalist's advocate is sure. According to his story, he had filed a complaint with the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) about non-fulfilment of the court ruling to re-qualify the articles. Tatiana Golubeva, a senior assistant to the Public Prosecutor of Dagestan for relations with media and public, promised that an answer to Sheikhov's complaint would be given before July 10.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 11 unidentified persons fired three shots in the direction of the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent Akhmednabi Akhmednabiev. The journalist was no hurt by the attack. On January 13, a criminal case was opened on the incident under Articles 167 (deliberate destruction of or damage to one's property) and 22 (criminal liability of persons with mental disorder, not excluding sanity) of the Russian Criminal Code.
According to the lawyer, the event and the attackers' actions revealed attributes of other crimes, such as preparation of a crime and an attempted crime, a murder, and illegal purchase, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons.
Let us remind you that Akhmednabi Akhmednabiev was, along with other well-known lawyers, journalists and human rights activists, on the so-called "execution list", which was spread on leaflets in September 2009 in the capital of Dagestan.
