1225 people became victims of armed conflict in Northern Caucasus in 2012

No less than 1225 people became victims of continued armed conflict in Northern Caucasus in 2012, 700 out of them were killed and at least 525 got wounded. This is the total of calculation by the “Caucasian Knot” based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The above mentioned statistics cannot be hundred per cent precise concerning the number of victims in each of the categories singled out in the survey. News reports do not cover all the data. It is not always possible to verify reliability of the statements made by law enforcement bodies.

209 members of power ministries were killed in the republics of Northern Caucasus in 2012 as a result of firing, explosions and armed confrontations. 

According to law enforcement bodies, losses among members of armed underground in 2012 in Northern Caucasus made 404 people. 14 more persons who according to the data of law enforcement bodies were members of paramilitary groups were wounded.

No less than 87 civilians were killed in Northern Caucasus as a result of terror, explosions and firing in 2012. No less than 125 peaceful residents got wounded.

No less than 96 explosions and acts of terror took place in the regions of North-Caucasian Federal Okrug in 2012. Seven actions of suicide bombers and cases of self-blasting were also included into the statistics of explosions and acts of terror.
