Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia resigned

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Nikoloz Vashakidze resigned on his own free will. He explained the reason of his resignation as policy disagreement with the new Government.

Earlier, the “Caucasian Knot” reported that on January, 17, upon a demand of Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maia Pandzhikidze, President of the country Mikhail Saakashvili recalled 19 ambassadors and special representatives of Georgia in foreign countries. In ten cases the recall was caused by inadequacy of their activities to the new foreign policy of the country.

The retired Nikoloz Vashakidze held the office of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs since 2010 and retained it after change of the authority of the country, “Novosti-Georgia” reports.

Commenting on his resignation Vashakidze declared that he disagreed “with both today’s general line in foreign policy and the style” of the new Government, in particular, in the sphere of Russian-Georgian relations, “PirWeli” reports.
