Search of gunmen in the mountainous area of Chechnya was useless

Law enforcement bodies failed to find gunmen in the mountainous area of Shatoy district of Chechnya.

It should be reminded that during search operations on January, 18, in the neighbourhood of the settlement of Aslanbek-Sheripovo and combing the woodland, a policeman blasted on a landmine and got wounded in his legs.

“Operations of search and neutralization of participants of paramilitary groups carried out in the neighbourhood of the settlement of Aslanbek-Sheripovo were useless”, a source in law enforcement bodies of the republic informed.

A representative of the Ministry said that several small groups of gunmen might still remain in Shatoy district. He added that in the winter period participants of paramilitary groups did not practically prove themselves in any way preferring to take cover in their bases and other hideouts.
