Head of KBR rejected rent of an armoured vehicle at the cost of 44,8 million roubles

Head of Kabardino-Balkaria Arsen Kanokov ordered to withdraw his order on rent of an armoured VIP-car for the government of the region, a source in the republican Administration reported.

The order on a long-term rent of a car was placed on the official web-site of state purchases.

According to a source in the Administration of the republic, Arsen Kanokov said that “the budget of the republic is not that rich to purchase such expensive cars for service purposes”, “Interfax” reports. The Government of KBR was going to take the car at finance lease at the cost of 44,8 million roubles.

The technical features specified in the tender documentation correspond to a Mercedes-Benz S 600 GUARD (B6/B7) car.

On January, 21, Chairman of National Anti-corruption Committee Kirill Kabanov declared that he perceived a corruption component in this order.

“The scheme or rent of itself gives rise to doubt. The price of Mercedes in Europe makes 600 to 800 thousand euros, so, it is cheaper to buy than rent it”, “Izvestia” quotes Kirill Kabanov.
