The court acknowledged a resident of Sochi guilty of organizing a series of explosions

Today the court of Central district of Sochi on the case of organization of six episodes of blasting home-made explosive devices brought a verdict of guilty to Yuri Rodygin aged 28. The resident of the city was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months of custody and a fine of 200 000 roubles.

According to Public Prosecutor’s indictment, Yuri Rodygin was the organizer of explosions in the territory of Sochi which he prepared since 2010 till 2012 laying home-made bombs under different social objects. All in all, five persons got injured as a result of Yuri Rodygin’s actions.

Yuri Rodygin collaborated with the investigation, told everything himself an did not deny his guilt in court.

The defendant explained his actions by his “interest in pyrotechnics” and asked the court for a penalty not connected with imprisonment. The sufferers had no claims to the convict and did not come to the trial.
