Committee of Inquiry: a resident of Dagestan who perished at the moment of firing at a policeman was his relative

A resident of Kizilyurt district of Dagestan who perished at the moment of firing at a policeman was the officer’s cousin, Press Secretary of Investigative Department of Committee of Inquiry of the Russian Federation in the republic Rasul Temirbekov reported.

In the evening of January, 22, unidentified people in the settlement of Zubutli-Miatli, Kizilyurt district, fired upon a police officer and then threw a grenade into the local residents who tried to detain the criminals. As a result of the incident the official acting as Chief of district police officers of “Kizilyurt” district Department of Interior Affairs and a local resident got wounded, the latter died.

“The crime took place near the policeman’s house in Dakhadaev street. Driving up to his house the policeman noticed two suspicious persons. When he stepped towards them to inspect their documents they opened fire”, a representative of the Department said to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

According to the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Dagestan, 10 minutes after assault at the policeman a stranger threatening with arms forced the owner of a car passing by to take him to the suburbs of the settlement after which he escaped.
