Opponents of Saakashvili’s presidency organized a “human chain” in Tbilisi

In the evening of January, 24, participants of a protest action demanding resignation of President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili organized a “human chain” near the President’s palace.

About 150 people were standing in the “human chain” for an hour demanding that the President of Georgia should leave his office immediately. During the action the participants standing near the fencing of the President’s palace were chanting: “Go away!”.

Earlier, the “Caucasian Knot” reported that actions of protest organized by “Unity” civil movement with the demand of Saakashvili’s immediate resignation had been going in front of the President’s palace in Tbilisi since January, 20.

Five years of Mikhail Saakashvili’s presidential term expired on January, 5, 2013. However, according to the amendments made to the Electoral Code in 2011, October was appointed as the month of election, so, the next presidential election will be held in October of 2013.
