The Ministry of Interior Affairs of Russia: 13 people killed in a special operation in Chechnya

12 gunmen were killed in a special operation in the mountains of Chechnya, the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Russia informed confirming that brothers Muslim and Hussein Gakaev were identified among those killed. One policeman was killed, too, and seven more got wounded.

It should be reminded that on January, 23, a group of policemen got under fire in the neighbourhood of the settlement of Elistanzhi, Vedeno district of Chechnya. Two policemen perished as a result and no less than five got wounded. The attackers escaped.

Today the special operation was continued. “As a result of armed confrontation one policeman perished and seven members of power ministries were wounded, a report on the web-site of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Russia runs.

Meanwhile, an information appeared tonight on a web-site supporting gunmen that during armed confrontation in Vedeno district over 15 members of power ministries were killed or wounded.

In July of 2011 in became known that leader of the “Caucasus Emirate” Doku Umarov appointed Hussein Gakaev one of his deputies. Muslim Gakaev personally trained 27 bombers who committed acts of self-blasting in Grozny and other settlements, web-site of Head and the Government of Chechnya reports.
