The Court of Appeal of Armenia returned a claim of the attorneys of convicted activists of ANC for revision

Today the Court of Appeal of Armenia under the chairmanship of judge Avetisyan having considered an appeal of the attorneys of four young oppositional activists against the verdicts of general jurisdiction and the Appellate court decided to return the claim for revision, Press Service of oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) reported.

According to the judgment of the Court of Appeal, the defense of four activists was given a twenty-day term for revision.

“It is incomprehensible from the appeal what exactly the attorney’s goal is: acquittal or commutation”, Head of Press Service of Juridical Department of Armenia Arsen Babyan said.

On August, 9, 2011, a skirmish between seven members of Armenian National Congress and the police took place in Yerevan after which the oppositional activists were detained.

Earlier, the “Caucasian Knot” reported that on July, 20, the court sentenced ANC activists to different terms: Tigran Arakelyan to six, Artak Karapetyan to three, David Kiranajyan and Sarkis Gevorkyan to two years of custody.
