Chairperson of regional non-governmental organization “Mothers of Chechnya” left hospital early on safety grounds
Madina Magomedova, Chairperson of regional non-governmental organization “Mothers of Chechnya”, left the hospital where she was undergoing treatment after an attempt of abduction early on safety grounds.
Swedish Peace and Arbitrage Society (SPAS) and “Civil Rights Defenders” organization expressed concern about the attempt of Madina Magomedova’s kidnapping that took place on June, 8, in Moscow. They consider that the incident testifies to the fact of regular aggravation of the situation around work of human rights activists in Russia.
As a result of the incident in Moscow, Madina Magomedova got a closed craniocerebral injury, brain concussion, a bruise and scratches of soft tissue of the region of chin and the right knee-joint as follows from the medical certificate she received when leaving hospital.
In order to leave hospital early, Madina Magomedova had to resort to a violation of hospital routine.
A new attempt of kidnapping Madina Magomedova is probable, one of the Chechen human rights activists told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent on the condition of anonymity.
“As long as there was one attempt of kidnapping her, it is evident that someone wanted it. Nobody can rule out another attempt. The same to the full extent concerns anyone doing the same kind of work as Magomedova in Chechnya”, the human rights activist said.
