Eyewitnesses of the events in Novokhopersk report being visited by the police in Volgograd
The police in Volgograd district is carrying out searches in the houses of eyewitnesses of the disturbances that followed an action of protest against mining nickel in Novokhopersk district of Voronezh region, the activists report.
It should be reminded that on June, 22, over 4,5 thousand people in Novokhopersk district of Voronezh region took part in a meeting of protest against mining nickel in Elansk deposit. After the meeting in Novokhopersk unidentified persons smashed the geologists’ camp and set fire to the derricks of the nickel producing company.
On June, 24, representative of “Another Russia” party in Volgograd Leonid Makhinya and activist of ethnopolitical association (EPA) “The Russians” Oleg Borodin reported searches in their houses.
According to Leonid Makhinya, the policemen came to him at 22 o’clock, July, 23, received his explanation concerning his presence in Sorokinskoye field and downloaded files from his video camera. “As far as I could understand, they considered residents of Volgograd the main instigators of the disturbances”, Leonid Makhinya explained to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
According to Oleg Borodin, an operative agent with two policemen also came to him at ten in the evening, June, 23.
“I am neither the first nor the last one who underwent search, Oleg Borodin added. – As far as I could see the policemen took photos of vehicle identification numbers of all the cars standing there and are now visiting their owners”.
The “Caucasian Knot” has yet no comment from the Ministry of Interior Affairs concerning the activists’ statements.
