Kruter: Said Amirov is in grave condition in SIZO "Lefortovo"
Said Amirov, the ex-Mayor of Makhachkala, who was arrested and dismissed from the post, is in grave health condition in his cell of the "Lefortovo" SIZO (pre-trial prison), said his lawyer Mark Kruter.
He told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the issue of Said Amirov's examination and treatment in a civil hospital and conditions of his detention will be decided on July 3 by the Basmanny Court of Moscow. According to the lawyer, the health condition of Said Amirov continues to be grave.
"He is on the brink of life and death. And we, the defence, do our best to change his measure of restraint for home arrest," said Mark Kruter.
Since Said Amirov is a Category 1 invalid, and, besides, he suffers from diabetes, he should be transferred to home arrest, said Valery Borschov, the chairman of the Public Oversight Commission of Moscow.
He added that such patients like Said Amirov should not be kept in SIZOs.
Said Amirov was detained on June 1 on suspicion of killing an investigator in Dagestan; he was presented with the appropriate charge. He refuses to plead guilty and treats his case as fabricated.
