Protests of utility workers and flood victims in Azerbaijan

The district centre of Imishli in Azerbaijan has hosted protest actions of local residents. They were attended by employees of public utilities, who demanded to eliminate wage debts, and district residents affected during the 2010 flood.

On January 31, a group of utility workers blocked the central highway of the district. They demanded to immediately eliminate their wage debts. Road police arrived at the place; and after negotiations, the protesters unblocked the road, the "APA" reports.

On the same day, about a hundred victims of the 2010 flood came to the building of the district administration – they demanded payment of fair compensations for their lost property and damaged housing.

William Gadjiev, the head of the Imishli District executive power said that there was no protest action in the district – people just came on the reception day, the "News-Azerbaijan" reports.
