Chechen policeman kidnapped and killed in Dagestan

The authorities of Dagestan are investigating the circumstances of kidnapping and killing of a policeman from Chechnya.

The incident occurred at night on February 1 on the 729th kilometre of the Federal Highway "Kavkaz" near the fuelling station "Euro" in the Novolak District of Dagestan. Unidentified persons who moved in a silver VAZ 2109 car without number plates committed an armed attack on the driver and passenger of a black VAZ 2114 car.

The attackers were five in number; four of them were in masks, said the passenger of the attacked car, a resident of the village of Staroschedrinskaya, Shelkovskoy District of Chechnya.

Seeing that the driver was a policeman, the assailants forced him back into his car and fled away in two cars, reports the website of the Investigatory Department for Dagestan of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

The body of the kidnapped 35-year-old private of the Chechen police with gunshot wounds in the head and chest was found in the afternoon on February 1.
