Abdulatipov states possibility of amnesty for militants in Dagestan
The acting head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov does not rule out an amnesty for the militants who will express their intention to get back to peaceful life. He said it in his comment on an open letter a journalist with a corresponding appeal.
The letter from the journalist Marina Akhmedova to the head of Dagestan urging him to declare an amnesty to the members of the armed underground willing to get back to civilian life was published in the media.
Abdulatipov said, speaking on air of Channel 1 in Vladimir Pozner's programme, that he had already instructed his subordinate to study the issue of amnesty to such militants.
"I perceive this idea. I called and said: 'Prepare your competent proposals.' <...> We have to learn to pardon each other," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Mr Abdulatipov as saying.
Let us remind you that on February 22, when speaking at a meeting of the heads of municipalities and urban districts, the acting Dagestani leader stressed the need to set up the republic's peacemaking commission. He noted that the militants' adaptation commission that worked in the republic, had played its role, but it was insignificant.
