Six pardoned criminal authorities leave Georgia

The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported that all the six criminal authorities, who were released after adoption of the law "On Amnesty" and had no right to stay in the territory of Georgia, have left the country.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 13, the above law "On Amnesty" came into force, followed by a mass release of prisoners from jails of Georgia, including six "thieves in law". However, according to Georgian legislation, a person with the status of a "thief in law" has no right to stay in the country, so the pardoned criminal authorities were ordered to leave Georgia within 24 hours; otherwise they would be arrested again.

According to the MIA, all the released "thieves in law" left the country on time; however, their destination was not specified, the "Georgia Online" wrote.

However, President Mikhail Saakashvili, who is quoted by "News-Georgia", said that the decision as if returned Georgia back to the 1990s; and it was nothing more but a "syndrome of irresponsibility, lawlessness and injustice."
