Airikyan wants to demand delay of presidential election in Armenia

Paruir Airikyan, a presidential candidate of Armenia and the Chairman of the Association "National Self-Determination", who suffered an assassination attempt, has been moved from the intensive care to a regular hospital unit.

In two or three days, doctors plan to discharge him, the "News-Armenia" reports.

"The haematoma from a bullet is pressing on his shoulder, but there's no danger," said Gagik Manukyan, a deputy director of the Medical Centre "St Grigor Lusavorich", as quoted by the Armenian TV broadcaster "A1+".

Tomorrow, on February 5, Paruir Airikyan plans to give a press conference, in the "Yerevan" Hotel, where he will announce his decision to demand the postponement of the election. As stated by the candidate himself, he may appeal to the Constitutional Court of Armenia with a demand to postpone the election for 15 days, if it becomes clear that the days he spent in hospital, had negatively influenced his rating, the Armenian daily online newspaper "National Idea" reports.
