Opening of ski route in Ingushetia postponed till February 20 because of warm weather

The solemn opening ceremony of the first alpine ski route at the resort of Armkhi in Ingushetia, which was to be held on February 5, has been postponed due to the unusually warm weather.

By February 20, weather forecasters promise snow and freezing temperature – the necessary conditions for opening of the route, said Yakub Mankiev, the spokesman for the head of the republic.

"Right now, the Djeirakh District has temperature above zero; and in the plain the whole day is sunny. This year is abnormally warm here," said the spokesman of Yunus-Bek Evkurov.

He noted that in order to involve the snow-making systems, the air temperature should be no higher than minus five degrees Celsius.
