Police find multimillion embezzlement of budget funds in Dagestan

According to the Russia's MIA, the money allocated for capital repairs of the housing fund and resettlement of tenants from dilapidated houses was stolen.

The police do not rule out the involvement of heads of administrations of major municipalities of the republic and local government officials in the crime.

In 2010, the State Corporation "Fund to Promote Reforming of Housing and Utilities Sector" allocated more than 350 million roubles to Dagestan for housing repair and resettling people from emergency houses.

According to the police, the head of the administration of the Akushin District, when reporting about spending 68 million roubles, provided false information about demolition of dilapidated housing and resettlement of tenants into a new house. The police have established that in fact the money was cashed through "firms-by-night" and divided, says the website of the Russia's MIA.

So far, there are no comments from the suspects of embezzlement or their representatives.
