In Armenia, presidential candidate Arutyunyan goes on hunger strike

Today in Armenia, at 5:00 p.m., the presidential candidate Aram Arutyunyan, the leader of the "National Accord" Party, went on a hunger strike in front of the Central Election Commission (CEC).

The candidate told reporters that the aim of the hunger strike is to convey to the public the information about the illegitimacy of the election. "Today, here I'll wait for other candidates," he said, expressing hope that other candidates would join him, and on February 8 they will all declare self-withdrawal.

The candidate also said that he intended to spend the night in the open air, regardless of the weather. "Cold and open space are no problems for me," said Arutyunyan.

A group of young people came to support him. "We came to support the candidate and would very much like to see him as the president of our country. Arutyunyan is the only candidate who opposes the government and fights against them," they said.
