Sintsov: NAC ready to consider initiative of Dagestani authorities on amnesty for militants
The National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) is ready to consider the initiative of the authorities of Dagestan on amnesty for the militants who want to return to civilian life, said Nikolai Sintsov, the spokesman of the NAC, who added that the amnesty should not touch on those who had committed grave crimes.
Let us remind you that on June 24 the acting head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov spoke live on air of Channel 1 and did not rule out an amnesty to those militants who want to return to civilian life.
"If the head of a Russian subject or the chairman of the local antiterrorist commission finds it necessary to come up with such an initiative, it will certainly be considered; and a respective decision will be made," Nikolai Sintsov said on June 25.
He added that, in any case, no active members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) "with blood on their hands," will fall under the amnesty, and "unequivocal punishment awaits them." "The amnesty will be applied to those people who have not yet crossed the brink of the law, behind which there's threat of jail," said the NAC spokesman.
