One of the leaders of “Southern” group Kurban Guseinov was among those killed in a special operation at the border of Tabasaran and Derbent districts of Dagestan today, National Anti-Terrorist Committee reports.

Earlier, the “Caucasian Knot” informed that a counter-terrorist regime was enacted on February, 11, at the border of the two districts. According to local law enforcement bodies, five supposed gunmen were killed during the armed conflict.

They were identified as: Kurban Guseinov, the “right hand” of chieftain of the “Southern sector”, Bagir Agabaev, chieftain of “Khiva” gunmen’s group, Timur Mirzekhanov, the group’s “staff killer”, Rasim Ramazanov and Shamil Shikhkerimov.

According to NAC, Mirzekhanov is suspected of the murders of Head of the settlement of Liakhlya on August, 21, 2012, and director of the school in the settlement of Sovietskoye on July of 2011. Murders of Head of the settlement of Kushtil and a local woman who refused to render tribute for her entrepreneurial activities are also attributed to him.

According to the investigation, Mirzekhanov participated in the murders of heads of the settlement together with Agabaev, a source in law enforcement bodies told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

“As for Shikhkerimov and Ramazanov, they were both active accomplices of the gunmen. Shikhkerimov pretending to be a taxi driver often carried out orders of members of the underground, was earlier detained and then released”, the source said.
