Committee of Inquiry: the man suspected of murder of children in Dagestan made confessionary statements

A resident of Dagestan detained for suspicion of murdering two sons of an officer of the Ministry of interior Affairs in the settlement of Belidji, Derbent district, confessed to killing two children for the reason that they became eyewitnesses of robbery, Investigative Department of the republic reports.

“A twenty-one-year-old resident of the settlement of Rubas, Derbent district, was detained for suspicion of committing this crime. The detainee acknowledged himself guilty of committing the crime and showed the burial ground of stolen property”, a representative of Investigative Department of Committee of Inquiry in Dagestan told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

According to the investigation, during interrogation the detainee said that he went to the policeman’s house for the purpose of robbery not knowing that there were children there. He said that he killed them as unwanted eyewitnesses after which he took money and jewellery, RIA “Novosti” referring to a representative of Committee of Inquiry (CI) reports.

A knife that according to preliminary data, was the murder weapon was found on the detainee. In addition, according to CI, during interrogation it became known that the detainee earlier had a conflict with the killed children’s father, RIA “Dagestan” reports.

The conflict might have emerged from the suspect’s unsuccessful attempt to sell a car to the policeman after which he decided to commit robbery, “Interfax” referring to a source in law enforcement bodies reports.
