In Azerbaijan, head of Ismailli District dismissed

Today, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev has signed an order to relieve Nizami Alekberov from his position of the head of the Ismailli District, where riots occurred in January.

Local residents have several times tried to hold protest actions, demanding the dismissal of Nizami Alekberov. Nizami Alekberov himself declared that he would not resign.

According to the order of Ilham Aliev, Mirdamed Sadigov was appointed to the position earlier occupied by Nizami Alekberov, the website of the President of Azerbaijan reports.

The author of a blog "Gorgud, Azerbaijan, Baku" on the "Caucasian Knot" emphasizes that both dismissals followed the President's statement.

"If I ever hear that one of their family members has been seen in hooliganism, ignorance and cannot behave normally, that person will be arrested and his father will be dismissed," the "SalamNews" quotes Ilham Aliev as saying on February 12.
