Two suspected militants detained in Stavropol

In Stavropol, two young men have been detained, who are suspected of involvement in the murder of a policeman in Karachay-Cherkessia.

According to the Russia's National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), both detainees are natives of Karachay-Cherkessia: Asman Baichurov, born in 1993, and Genislam Semyonov, born in 1987; they were members of a religious extremist grouping.

As members of this grouping, in July 2012, they killed a policeman in Karachay-Cherkessia, says the NAC, noting that they were also involved in other crimes of terrorist nature.

Earlier, Baichurov and Semyonov were put on the federal wanted list. During detention, they were deprived of a pistol and a submachine gun.

So far, no comments have been made by the detainees or their representatives.
