State Duma of the Russian Federation deprived Oleg Mikheev of parliamentary privilege

Today State Duma of the Russian Federation gave its consent to deprive Deputy from “Fair Russia” party Oleg Mikheev representing Volgograd region of parliamentary privilege.

Earlier, February, 14, the Council of State Duma of the Russian Federation decided to consider the question of withdrawal of Deputy Oleg Mikheev’s immunity for he was accused of swindle. Oleg Mikheev stated that his request of creation of a special deputies’ commission to study the circumstances of the case was dismissed.

Today the deputies deprived Oleg Mikheev of parliamentary privilege for the purpose of starting criminal proceedings and calling him to account as defendant, “Interfax” reports.

297 deputies voted for Mikheev’s deprivation of immunity, 59 voted against and four abstained from voting, RIA “Novosti” reports.

According to the investigation, Mikheev is involved in misappropriation of 14 objects of realty of “Volgograd engine plant” to a sum of over 500 million rubles and an attempt of embezzlement of 2,1 billion rubles from “Promsviazbank”. Mikheev considers himself guiltless.
