Two Chechens convicted for fighting at dormitory of Maimonides Academy

The Solntsevo Moscow Court has pronounced the verdicts to two natives of Chechnya who participated in the fight with policemen at the dormitory of the Maimonides State Classical Academy (MSCA). Khabib Ibragimov was sentenced to one year of imprisonment, and Alkhazur Magomedov to two years of imprisonment.

According to the version of prosecutors, on June 8, 2012, while trying to bring to investigator the witnesses of the fight at the Shopping Centre (SC) "Evropeisky" (European), policemen faced opposition from students of the Academy. Several policemen were injured.

As a result of the today's court session, the 24-year-old Alkhazur Magomedov was sentenced to two years of imprisonment to be served at a penal colony of common security. The 21-year-old Khabib Ibragimov was sentenced to one year of imprisonment.

The verdict to the 24-year-old Maierbek Islamov, one more defendant, has not been pronounced yet. This was reported by the "Mossovet" with reference to the press service of the Solntsevo District Court.

The Court explained the difference in the terms of imprisonment by the fact that Alkhazur Magomaev was accused of using violence dangerous to life and health against power representatives, while Khabib Ibragimov was accused of using violence not dangerous to life, the "Lifenews" reports.

Till present, no comments of the defendants or their advocates on the court decision are available.
