Staff members of "KazTransGas-Tbilisi" go on strike

Staff members of the diagnostic laboratory of the company "KazTransGas-Tbilisi" went on strike, demanding the reinstatement of their dismissed colleagues.

The strike was reported on February 19. According to the statement of participants of the protest action, the announced staff reduction from 36 to 15 persons became the reason for the strike.

Besides, the salaries of the company's staff members were also decreased, and a number of measures to save equipment, according to the estimation of the company's staff members, deteriorated the level of safety, "Tbilisi Week" reports.

"The laboratory establishes the risk of explosion of underground gas pipes. 300 staff members used to maintain the laboratory; later, their number decreased to 36, and at present to 15 persons. The company cut salaries and reduced equipment. Under these conditions, the safety cannot be maintained at the appropriate level. We demand to restore the previous conditions," the "Georgia Online" quotes one of the participants of the protest action as saying.

At present, no comments from the administration of the company on the declared protest action are available.
