Regional MP Magomed Magomedov detained in Dagestan
On June 27, after the session of the People's Assembly of Dagestan, Magomed Magomedov, an MP, was detained, the MIA of Dagestan reports. According to a source from the National Assembly, the reason for the detention was the fact that the MP is suspected of links with militants.
Fatima Ubaidatova, the head of the MIA's press service, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that Magomedov was detained when leaving the parliament building.
According to preliminary data, his detention was caused by a suspicion that Magomedov was a helper to members of illegal armed formations (IAFs), said the above source from the People's Assembly of Dagestan.
According to his story, the detained 37-year-old Magomed Magomedov, a native of the village of Oboda, Khunzakh District, was elected to the People's Assembly of Dagestan from the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party. He is a cousin of Akhmed Bilalov, the former vice-president of the Russian Olympic Committee and the former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the OJSC "Resorts of Northern Caucasus". In April 2013, Ruslan Magomedov, a brother of Magomed Magomedov, was announced for the all-Russian search for aiding militants.
