Kruter: defence will insist on July 3 in court on home arrest for Said Amirov
On July 3, at a session of the Basmanny Court of Moscow, the defence of the arrested and removed from office Mayor of Makhachkala Said Amirov will insist on changing his freedom restraint measure to home arrest, said Mark Kruter, Amirov's advocate.
Said Amirov was detained on June 1 on suspicion of a murder of an investigator in Dagestan; he was presented with the appropriate charge. On June 2, the Basmanny Court of Moscow ruled to put Amirov in custody. Amirov refuses to plead guilty and calls the case against him fabricated.
According to Mr Kruter, the health condition of Said Amirov, who is kept at the SIZO (pre-trial prison) "Lefortovo", leaves much to be desired. "I saw him on June 26; despite the heat, my client is holding and does not lose heart," he said.
On July 3, the Basmanny Court will decide whether the ex-Mayor needs examination and treatment in a civil hospital, as well as consider the conditions of his detention.
