Unloading dock in Volgograd Region was burned down intentionally, its defenders are sure
The fire in the unloading dock, located near the farmstead of Bobry in the Sredneakhtubinsk District of the Volgograd Region, which was recognized as cultural heritage, was caused by arson, the activists who fought for the preservation of the building are sure. They now prepare a series of rallies to demand to find and punish the arsonists.
Let us remind you that on April 24 a group of activists launched a campaign demanding to abandon the plans of demolition of the old unloading dock (floating pier). They set up a tent camp near the building and, according to their story, prevented several attempts to destroy the facility. However, on June 25 a fire broke out; and the unloading dock burned down.
"The defenders of the unloading dock find it obvious that it was an ordered arson," said Oksana Svitnyova, one of the activists.
The defenders of the building said that they would hold a series of rallies with a demand to find and punish those responsible.
As reported by the press service of the Chief Department for the Volgograd Region of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), the reason for destruction of the unloading dock was the delivery of fire by unidentified persons.
"According to our information, a conclusion with definition of the cause of the fire will be received from the MfE not earlier than two weeks," said Anton Karnaukhov, a source from the press service of the GUVD (Chief Interior Department) of the Volgograd Region. According to his story, if it turns out that the building was deliberately set on fire, the Sredneakhtubinsk ROVD (District Interior Division) will open a criminal case.
