Magomedov, ex-MP of Dagestan put in custody on suspicion of helping militants
The court has granted the petition of the investigation and put the former Dagestani parliamentarian from the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party Magomed Magomedov, who was detained on suspicion of organizing mass riots with the aim of helping militants during a special operation, in custody.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomedov was detained on June 27 during a break in the session of the Dagestani parliament. On the same day, the MPs voted to strip the powers off Magomedov.
He was put behind bars by the decision of the Soviet Court of Makhachkala, the RIA "Dagestan" writes today.
Magomed Magomedov is suspected of organizing mass riots with the aim to help militants during the special operation conducted in a suburb of Makhachkala – the township of Semender.
At the court session, Magomedov's advocates insisted that he should be left under home arrest, believing that the fears of the investigation that while at large Magomedov may escape or put pressure on victims and witnesses were unjustified, the "Vesti.Ru" reports.
