Residents of TAC "Promzhilbaza" in Ingushetia ready to go on hunger strike on July 1

The forced migrants from Chechnya who live in Ingushetia have declared their readiness to start a hunger strike in protest against the unfair, in their opinion, distribution of certificates for purchase of housing.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 11, 33 displaced families from Chechnya, living in the temporary accommodation centre (TAC) "Promzhilbaza" received certificates for purchase of housing. The head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov said at the certificate awarding ceremony that the republic planned to eliminate all the TACs. However, 13 Chechen families were not included into the consolidated list, on the basis of which housing certificates will be issued. Former residents of the Chechen Republic have expressed concern that after the closure of "Promzhilbaza" they will be left without a roof over their heads.

The forced migrants from Chechnya, who live in the TAC "Promzhilbaza" since 1999, have repeatedly staged protests, demanding to solve their housing problems.

Members of several families, living in "Promzhilbaza", have announced their protest from July 1. Their statement about the intention to go on hunger strike was published by Magomed Mutsolgov, the head of the human rights organization MASHR, in his blog that he runs on the "Caucasian Knot".
