Court to consider criminal case against former Ingush Minister of Internal Affairs without jury

The criminal case against Ruslan Meiriev, the former Minister of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia, and Ali Yandiev, the former head of the Nazran ROVD (District Interior Division), accused of negligence, will be considered by the Magas District Court without jury. This decision was made by the Supreme Court (SC) of Ingushetia.

Earlier, the Supreme Court of Ingushetia has scheduled the consideration of the case on the merits for February 20. It was planned that the court session will be open, and it will involve a jury.

However, on February 18, the Supreme Court of Ingushetia considered the motions of the parties and pronounced the decision to direct the case to the Magas District Court.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Khadizhat Bogatyreva, Court Secretary, the defendants filed a motion for consideration of their case by jury and, meanwhile, the public prosecutor filed a motion for declassification of certain documents stored at the materials of the case.

Let us remind you that Ruslan Meiriev and Ali Yandiev were dismissed from their positions after the terror act committed on August 17, 2009, in Nazran, as a result of which about 200 persons were injured.
