UNM faction in Tbilisi Sakrebulo demands to stop questioning Deputies on session days

Today, on February 22, the majority of the Tbilisi Sakrebulo (City Assembly), made up by the members of the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party, has addressed the General Public Prosecutor and the Minister of Finance of Georgia with a demand to stop appointing interrogations of Deputies on the days, when they have their sessions.

"In recent months, summoning of Tbilisi Sakrebulo members for questioning as witnesses has become systematic. They are summoned right at the time of Sakrebulo sessions. We hereby inform you that the Sakrebulo sessions are held on the last Friday of each month; and the major duty of its Deputies is to participate in them," says the appeal.

In particular, this morning, two members of the faction Gela Omanidze and Khvicha Sanaya were summoned for questioning.

The UNM Deputies asked "to show respect to the Tbilisi Sakrebulo, elected by townspeople, and not to interfere with his work."

The General Prosecutor's Office has already responded to the appeal by deciding not to question the Deputies during the sessions, the IA "News-Georgia" reports.
