Activists of “Ireli” organization in Azerbaijan held an action of protest in front of the Embassy of France

Today activists of non-governmental youth organization “Ireli” in Baku held an action in front of the Embassy of France demanding from the authorities of the country to punish the persons guilty of beating up two students from Azerbaijan.

The incident took place in the building of National Assembly of France during a conference “25 years after the events in Sumgait: the present-day situation and perspectives for the future for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh”.

Azerbaijani students Mirvali Fatalieva and Vusal Guseinov who study in France on learning about the action came to the conference hall.

During the action they declared that “21 years ago the Armenians committed the Khojaly massacre against peaceful Azerbaijani population”. The students also chanted the respective slogans.

The participants of the action closing the doors of the hall beat up the Azerbaijani students. The police and physicians with an ambulance arrived at the scene of the incident, Apa.az reports.

During the action of protest near the Embassy of France Head of “Ireli” (“Forward”) organization Rauf Mardiev condemned beating up the Azerbaijani students in France and called for punishment of the guilty party.

The participants of the action stuck up their mouths with Scotch tape in this way expressing protest against “violent suppression of freedom of expression of Azerbaijani citizens in France”.
