"Centre of Civil Initiatives" completes project on strengthening peacemaking role of women in Southern Caucasus
On June 30, in Nagorno-Karabakh, the human rights organization "Centre of Civil Initiatives" completed a three-year inter-regional project "Strengthening of Women's Capacity for Building Peace in Southern Caucasus".
Let us remind you that the project "Strengthening of Women's Capacity for Building Peace in Southern Caucasus" was launched in March 2010 under the auspices of the Caucasian representative office of the international organization named CARE.
To implement the above project, the "Centre of Civil Initiatives" set up four target groups of 16 women and girls in Stepanakert, Martuni, Shushi and Hadrout aged from 17 to 60. The organization's activities under this project are summed up in the brochure "Opportunities for Karabakh Women and Peace in Southern Caucasus", which was presented in Stepanakert on June 29.
"The aim of the study is to draw the attention of local authorities and relevant republic's structures to social and financial problems in everyday life of Karabakh families," said Albert Voskanyan, the head of the "Centre of Civil Initiatives" and an author of the blog run on the "Caucasian Knot".
He noted that such projects are needed, "since women should participate efficiently in strengthening peace in the region."
Let us add here that the Nagorno-Karabakh nongovernmental human rights organization "Centre of Civil Initiatives" operates since October 2002.
